PVC joinery is one of the most used today, especially for the manufacture of windows, which require certain cleaning guidelines to keep them always in the best condition as well as provide an adequate aesthetic, leaving them like the first day.

But PVC profiles are not only in windows, we can find them in many other places and require their maintenance, especially if they are in an area where there is a lot of pollution or has heavy vehicle traffic.

How to clean PVC profiles?

The profiles should be cleaned with a soft cloth, water and something very important, a neutral soap. This should be done, at least, once a month and should be rinsed with plenty of water to prevent traces of soap adhering to the PVC profiles.

It is very important to keep in mind that for these profiles a soft product should be used, trying to avoid that it is abrasive or a too strong chemical, because it could alter the characteristics of this material. It is also necessary to remember the need for the cloth to be soft, never use scouring pads or brushes with hard bristles to remove any residue that may have remained stuck.

If there are organic residues or any adhering residue, hot water should be applied to soften it and then remove it carefully and easily.

Another alternative is the use of a homemade pressure steam machine. Applying the steam directly on the most hardened remains, it will be easy to remove any kind of dirt.

The most important thing is to do it very carefully and have a certain frequency to have the PVC profiles in the best condition at any time. It is not a difficult process, so it can be included in the cleaning routines without costing too much work.
